Electricity Still Out Due To Austin Wind Damage

About 800 Austin Energy customers are still without power after yesterday's strong wind storm.

Austin Energy spokesperson Ed Clark says repairs are needed at more than 100 locations.  He did not set a firm time on when power will be restored to all customers.

Austin Energy crews have made repairs at more than 400 locations since yesterday morning and overnight as a result of the high wind-related damage.

Tree trimming has been required at more than one-third of those locations before repairs could be made.

Repairs have included replacement of more than a dozen power poles and re-installation of downed power lines at more than two dozen locations.

Clark says about half of the Austin Energy system is located at the back of property lines rather than at the street, which prevents the use of bucket trucks. This requires crews to carry in equipment and climb trees (for trimming) and poles for repairs which increases the amount of time to make those repairs.

Any customers who have not reported outages should report their outage by calling 512-322-9100.
