Heavy Traffic Expected For Chris Kyle Funeral Procession

Heavy traffic is expected on I-35 as the funeral procession for former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle travels from Midlothian, TX to Austin.

Kyle will be buried at the Texas State Cemetery in a private ceremony.

Members of the Patriot Guard Riders, Department of Public Safety, military personnel, first responders and many more supporters will ride in this procession.

The motorcade will leave Midlothian around 8 a.m. They are expected to arrive in the Austin area around 11:30 a.m. Time is subject to change.

The procession will exit 6th Street from I-35 south and proceed east on 7th Street to Navasota Street.

There will be complete closures around the Texas State Cemetery on Navasota and Comal Streets between 7th and 11th Streets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Austin Police will assist the procession and defer to the motorcade for Fallen Officer Jaime Padron, which had a significant impact on traffic in April, 2012.

Some alternate routes suggested are SH 130, Highway 183 and MoPac for north and southbound travel.

For east and westbound travel try using Cesar Chavez Street, Riverside Drive, MLK Boulevard and Airport Blvd Boulevard.
