Pflugerville On High Alert After Attempted Child Abduction
Pflugerville is fighting back after a man tried to kidnap two little girls last week on their way to school.
People who live in Pflugerville's Falcon Pointe neighborhood held a meeting to talk about how to keep their community safe so something like it doesn't happen again.
Residents of Falcon Pointe filed into a clubhouse with the focus set on establishing a neighborhood watch after the attempted kidnapping of two elementary school girls last week.
"I couldn't believe it happened in my own back yard," said Julia Ruiz, a Falcon Pointe resident.
Now, Ruiz is talking to police about putting together a neighborhood watch. "We have three schools within walking distance from our homes," she says. "We have tons of kids that go back and forth."
Police say a neighborhood watch won't replace police, but it will help to have extra eyes and ears on the street.
And while some parents do walk their kids to school, not all of them can. To find out about establishing a neighborhood watch in your area, call your local police.
