Alternate Routes Around Southbound I-35 Closure


The overnight big rig crash that caused southbound I-35 to close is also impacting nearby roads.

Expect congestion on Riverside Drive heading toward I-35. An alternate route if you're further south is Oltorf Street. If you're north, MLK Blvd would be a better option.

Also consider that commuters coming in from Round Rock, Pflugerville or Georgetown tend to use southbound MoPac when there's a major issue on I-35 such as this. Those of you who drive southbound Hwy 183 to southbound MoPac can expect a slower commute.

Other good options for drivers coming in from the north are SH 130 if you have to go south of Austin, or southbound Hwy 183.

Bottom line - you'll need extra time this morning to get where you're going.
