Austin Police Enforcing "No Refusal" For Sunday's Big Game

The Austin Police Department says they will enforce a "No-Refusal" initiative this Sunday for the NFL championship game between Baltimore and San Francisco.

The initiative will start at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and end on Monday at 5 a.m.

APD says that during the same time in 2012, 17 people were arrested for driving while intoxicated.

"No-Refusal" means that DWI suspects that refuse to voluntarily give a breath or blood specimen will have blood drawn for testing anyway. Those found to have a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or above will be charged with a Class A Misdemeanor, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail and a $4,000 fine for the first time offenders.
