South Austin Burglary Suspect Sought
Police say they need the public's help to find a South Austin burglary suspect they say was really there to sexually assault a woman.
Police say it happened at 7:30 a.m. in the 8800 block of La Cresada Drive, near MoPac and Davis Lane.
A man grabbed a woman and fled the scene.
The suspect is a black or Hispanic male wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans. The victim was not physically hurt.
Officers are looking for the suspect on the ground and with the Austin police helicopter.
Investigators say an unknown suspect entered the home, and once inside approached the female occupant. Police believe that the suspect's intent was to sexually assault her, but after a brief struggle the suspect fled the residence on foot.
The suspect is described as:
Hispanic or light skinned black male in his late 20s or early 30s
5'08" – 5'10"
150 – 180 lbs.
LSW gray hoodie and blue jeans
A search of the area was conducted with K-9 police dog units and helicopters, but the man escaped.
