Avoiding the 'Fitness Cliff'
If you're having trouble finding motivation to head to the gym this morning, you’re not alone. Feb. 7 is the day where gym attendance after New Year's sees the biggest drop. That’s according to one national chain that crunched three years’ worth of attendance numbers.
According to the numbers, they found Jan. 1 was the peak, but once the month ended, gym attendance started to drop, with Feb. 7, 38 days into the year, being the worst day.
So why is that? Some experts think it’s because in February, the level of frustration that comes with not seeing results one thinks they should be hits a peak, causing people to lose motivation.
The numbers show about half of all Americans set at least one New Year’s resolution, and about 88% of those fail. Some of the other most commonly broken New Year’s resolutions include quitting smoking, drinking less, and being less stressed.
