Austin Church Offers Ashes To Go


Fat Tuesday is over, and now we're on to Ash Wednesday -- but some Austinites didn't quite have the time to make it to church services.

Enter Saint David's Episcopal Church to the rescue. The church offered ashes to go at two locations this year.

"We were overwhelmed with the response we received last year," said the Rev. David Boyd, Rector. "We had planned to only offer ashes in the morning, but our priest couldn't leave. Every time he tried, someone else came up. He offered ashes all the way through lunch with people still stopping him as he walked back to the church."

Rev. Boyd says this is a way of allowing everyone to take part in lent.
