Grass Fire Shuts Down SB I-35 Near Pflugerville
Southbound I-35 near Pflugerville was shut down Monday afternoon after a grass fire ignited. This is during a Red Flag Warning day and wind gusts of up to 50 mph.
It happened at around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of I-35 and Grand Avenue Parkway.
Crews with the Round Rock Fire Department and Pflugerville Fire Department were on the scene battling the flames.
It was back open by 5:05 p.m., but traffic is expected to be congested in the late evening hours.
About 20 acres in total burned. Investigators say they're not ruling out arching power wires as the cause.
