Advice On Getting Wind Damage Fixed

The damage from Monday's winds are at least in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. But do you need to file a claim to get your property fixed or are you better off going at it on your own?

Power lines down, roofs torn up and even a giant antenna toppled over. For many once past the eye sore of what's left of their home the destruction is being added up in dollar signs.

Insurance agents have been bombarded with calls, but not everything may have to be claimed. Know what your homeowners deductible entails -- how much you have to pay out of pocket for things that could be considered minor, such as a portion of fence on the ground.

If you have damage to your home and you don't know how much it's going to cost call your agent to discuss your options before taking action.

But if you need to make a claim, start taking pictures and getting estimates to help expedite the process.
