Deadly Austin Crash Due To Passing In A Median
Austin police have released new information about a fatal crash Monday near Manor.
It happened at 8:20 a.m. on East Parmer Lane, between SH 130 and Hwy 290.
Police originally identified the victim as 55-year-old. They have changed that to 22 years old. He has not been identified.
Accident investigators say the man tried to pass several slower moving vehicles by moving into and passing in the gravel/grass median. His Yukon lost control in the median, causing it to slide back across both eastbound lanes of traffic. It hit the curb and rolled over into the shoulder of Parmer Ln.
This is the 17th fatality crash in Austin this year.
