One Person Treated After Southwest Austin House Fire
The Austin Fire Department responded to a house fire in southwest Austin early Friday morning.
The call came in just before 5 a.m. with reports of smoke in a neighborhood near the intersection of William Cannon Drive and Manchaca Road. When firefighters arrived they found the residence at 6901 Cherrydale Drive on fire. According to officials, there was some initial confusion as to whether or not there were occupants inside of the home. The fire was knocked down in less than an hour and upon investigating, firefighters did not find anyone inside.
One person was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and a second person was questioned by Austin Police. Officials say no one is in custody.
Investigators say the final damage estimate is $120,000 in structural damage, $8,000 in content damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
