More Details Released In Fatal FM 2222 Motorcycle Crash

Austin police have released more information about a crash on FM 2222 Sunday afternoon involving a car and two motorcycles that left one man dead

It happened in the 9400 block of FM 2222 near RR 620 at around 2:20 p.m.

Investigators say a silver 2004 Pontiac Sunfire was traveling eastbound on FM 2222 when, for an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle and went into oncoming traffic.  An orange 2006 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle struck the Pontiac on the passenger side of the vehicle as the vehicle slid into the oncoming westbound lanes of traffic.  The vehicle continued to rotate after being struck by the first motorcycle and was then struck by another Harley Davidson motorcycle on the driver's side of the vehicle.

All four people involved in the crash were transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge by STAR Flight and Austin-Travis County EMS.

The driver of the orange 2006 Harley Davidson Road King, 31-year-old Garrett Steven Parvin, was pronounced deceased later the same day.  His passenger had serious but non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Pontiac and the second motorcycle driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at 512-974-5560.

This is Austin's 20th fatal traffic crash and the 21st traffic fatality of 2013. At this time in 2012, there were 15 traffic fatalities.
