George P. Bush Formally Enters Race For Texas Land Commissioner

George P. Bush has filed paperwork today stating he will run for the Republican nomination for Texas Land Commissioner in 2014.

George P. Bush, 36, is the grandson of former President George H.W. Bush, the nephew of former President George W. Bush and the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

The document filed with the Texas Ethics Commission shows Bush appointed a campaign treasurer for his run for the office.

The Texas Land Commissioner manages billions of dollars of state assets, investments and mineral rights. The commissioner also heads several key state boards and commissions, overseeing matters ranging from coastal issues to veterans affairs.

George P. Bush is a lawyer in Fort Worth. He co-founded the Hispanic Republicans of Texas Political Action Committee.

Current Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson is running for Lt. Governor in 2014.
