Bastrop Co. Sheriff's Deputy Shoots Man Outside Del Valle Home

The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred in Del Valle Wednesday involving one of their deputies.
 
According to Bastrop County Sheriff  Terry Pickens , the shooting happened around 4 p.m. outside a home located at 121 Stony Mont Drive, off of C.R. 110 in Del Valle.
 
Officials say a Bastrop County Deputy responded to the residence following a domestic disturbance report by the victims daughter, who was inside the home at the time if the shooting.

When the deputy arrived, he made contact with an armed man in front of the home. Investigators say the man had a firearm, style unknown.

"As he approached the residence the armed suspect confronted the officer outside the house. The officer felt threatened, the person was armed, he gave some commands and because of the threat, fired upon the subject," says Pickens.

The deputy reportedly shot the man several times. Further details surrounding the confrontation have not been released.
 
Star Flight transported the gunshot victim to University Medical Center at Brackenridge in unknown condition.

The officer was not injured,  he and another who arrived shortly after are on administrative leave pending an  investigation by the Texas Rangers.
